This new project will commence operations in early March.The Opportunity:Reporting to the Mine Foreman and with strong functional relationships with the site safety and maintenance teams, we have several permanent opportunities for extensively experienced and professional Shift Supervisors to join this project start-up. This site-based opportunity will work a family-friendly 7/7 roster and partner with the Mine Foreman and Project Manager to lead Barminco’s site based personnel. The role will identify improvement initiatives and champion ongoing development of Barminco’s strong safety culture and high-performance objectives.The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring production targets are met by effective team leadership, and the deployment of operations personnel and equipment whilst meeting the safety, quality and cost objectives. In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be able to communicate effectively with a range of employees at varying levels in the organisation and be able to confidently explain and translate site goals into operational shift plans.Working with Barminco will provide you with an excellent opportunity to further develop your career, while working alongside experienced industry professionals in a safe, dynamic and outcome focused environment.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform the daily inspection and supervision of the working areas of the mine in accordance with all relevant Acts and Regulations;Ensure mining operations are being conducted safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, and where needed have the leadership skills to stop a job, rectify any issues and escalate to site senior leadership if necessary;Provide leadership to underground personnel to enable them to undertake their duties safely and efficiently, providing clear instructions, guidance and coaching (performance feedback;Coordinate and supervise daily work crew performance to ensure continuity of production to planned levels;Monitoring shift performance and reporting all changes that prevent the shift plan from being achieved and all variances between shift plan and weekly plan;Lead daily supervision, work planning meetings and toolbox meetings;Facilitate and submit incident investigation reports in writing to the Mine Foreman/Site Project Manager for incidents that occur;Liaise with any Contractors on site, ensuring their work is coordinated with the other mining activities;Ensure compliance with safety standards and practices and conduct daily safety reviews;Utilise Barminco management systems and tools to monitor and manage performance measures to ensure that project performance meets or exceeds expectations of the customer and the Barminco site budget.Skills, Experience & Attributes:Experience in a Supervisor role in underground mining is essential;Possess a current WA Underground Shift Supervisor Certificate;Effective problem-solving skills;Strong credibility in working with and influencing a frontline operational workforce;Confidence and capability in collating, reporting and presenting performance data including written and verbal presentations and interfacing with site leadership and technical personnel;Demonstrated capability in a progressive leadership role – moving beyond a compliance focus to leadership, effective safety systems and personal behaviours;Strong understanding and capability in safety culture and leadership concepts and practical application of risk assessment; hazard identification and controls; and incident management and investigation;Working knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly Mines Safety & Inspection Act 1994 and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations 1995;Proficient in the MS Office suite.Your proactive attitude to safety, diligent approach and strong work ethic, will see you become a highly valued member of the Rosemont Operations Team.
